The family
Forty minutes inland from Batumi the coast road turns up into the Acharistskali valley and the temperature drops. The Shervashidze family grow Chkhaveri and Brola on wooden frames on the slope above Keda, the way the valley has always done it.
The wines are light and low in alcohol. Guram Shervashidze makes them in qvevri under the house and is used to visitors who have come from the beach for the afternoon and know nothing about any of it.
